BIBOA (British Inflatable Boat Owners Association) is the British RIB club for racing and cruising. It was formed in 1990 to help RIB owners not only to socialise and take part in events with other owners, but also to encourage uses of the boat that they hadn’t considered before.
BIBOA organise a good number of cruise and social events throughout the year with 80% of our members enjoying our cruises in company with others and many of our family members take part. For the 20% of our members who like to race, BIBOA is affiliated to the RYA and there is a series of Basic races throughout the year for those new to racing with more challenging events for others. Although 80% of members go cruising and 20% enjoy racing, 100% socialise!
Many of our members provide vital safety services at racing and other events and without these RIB owners there would be no racing in the UK for any class of boat! As the UK national authority on RIBs we have the best information about these wonderful boats and the safety equipment to be carried. Throughout the year, members receive four/five issues of our club magazine ‘Riblines’ as well as access to other benefits such as discounted insurance and boat storage (from named companies only).
BIBOA members use their RIBs to:
• Cruise all over the UK, Europe and throughout the world
• Race in the RYA National Championships
• Plan extreme record attempts such as Round Britain, Around the World, Transatlantic Crossings or simply speed records.
• Provide safety cover for events all over the country
• Or … simply socialise!
